My plein air setup

Hello -- I was able to take advantage of the great weather today. I spent the am plein air painting along the Iowa River. Here is a scene I completed on location. The pastel set up includes the Heilman pastel box and easel and a sturdy trypod. The whole set fits neatly in a back pack.

  1. I certainly admire pastel artists who work outdoors. Having that direct inspiration adds a whole new dimension to ones work. Enjoy your summer. You create some wonderful pastels.

  2. Thanks for showing your setup. I've been thinking of getting a Heilman pastel box. What size do you recommend for plein aire?

  3. Hello Carole-- I prefer the smaller box as it fits easily into a regular size back pack. I also have the metal easel which works very well for me. f you purchase both make sure to have a sturdy trypod to hold them secure.. happy painting........ tom
