Hello--as many of you know I will be retiring from my career with the State of Iowa in September 2009. I am hopeful to be able to direct my efforts to painting and promoting pastel art as more of a full time artist. From time to time, I thought I would record my observations and any other painting news or new techniques that may be of interest to readers..
Today , while browsing Wet Canvas website, I noticed a thread in the Pastel Talk forum reviewing a plein air workshop with artist, Kim Lordier. I was fortunate to meet Kim at the IAPs convention in Albuquerque, New Mexico, this year. I was very impressed with Kim’s approach to creating art and her dedication to the medium. She was very willing to talk about her struggles and achievements . I also attended one of her demonstrations at the convention. I would definitely recommend her workshop to anyone who wants to learn techniques in Plein Air painting. I know if she were to come to the Mid West, I would be the first to enroll.
